According to sources cited by ARY News, Pakistani President Asif Zardari would declare his daughter Asifa Bhutto the official First Lady of her nation.

Notably, the President of Pakistan will be the first to nominate his daughter for First Lady, a title typically bestowed upon the President’s spouse.

Asifa Bhutto becomes the first lady with this historic decision, which closes a major chapter in the political history of the country.

Sources claimed that President Zardari would declare Asifa Bhutto the First Lady of Pakistan.

After the official declaration, Asifa Bhutto Zardari will be given the protocol and privileges befitting the First Lady, ARY News reported.

This decision is particularly noteworthy as Asifa Bhutto is set to become the first daughter of a president to hold the title of First Lady.

On Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Zardari was sworn in as the 14th President of Pakistan, officially taking over as the head of the state for a historic second time, Dawn reported.

Notably, Zardari is the only civilian candidate to have been elected as head of state for a second time, excluding the military heads. Earlier, he served as Pakistan President from 2008 to 2013.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, Zardari won 411 electoral votes on Saturday, defeating his rival and leader of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Mehmood Khan Achakzai, who was only able to receive 181 votes.

Today at the President’s House in Islamabad, Zardari was sworn in by Pakistan’s Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa. Arif Alvi, the outgoing president, and Shehbaz Sharif, the recently elected prime minister, flanked them.

General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and PPP Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were also in attendance.

According to Dawn, Zardari is also one of the four presidents who were elected democratically and who have served out their five-year constitutional mandate.
