Taste Atlas, a globally recognized food and travel guide, has unveiled its annual rankings, highlighting the “100 Best Food Regions in the World” as part of the Taste Atlas Awards 2024-25. Punjab made India proud by securing 7th place, earning a spot among the top 10 culinary destinations.

The rankings were determined based on 477,287 verified ratings covering 15,478 foods from various regions. The top five positions were claimed by Campania (Italy), Peloponnese (Greece), Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Sichuan (China), and Cyclades (Greece).

Punjab’s Culinary Excellence

Taste Atlas recommended must-try Punjabi dishes, including:

  • Amritsari Kulcha
  • Tikka
  • Shahi Paneer
  • Tandoori Murgh
  • Saag Paneer

The guide also spotlighted iconic eateries that best represent Punjab’s rich food culture:

  • Kesar Da Dhaba (Amritsar)
  • Bharawan Da Dhaba (Amritsar)
  • Bade Bhai Ka Brothers Dhaba (Amritsar)
  • Haveli (Jalandhar)
  • Crystal Restaurant (Amritsar)

Other Indian Regions in the Top 100

Punjab wasn’t the only Indian region featured:

  • Maharashtra (41st place) – Known for Misal Pav, Aamras, Shrikhand, and Pav Bhaji.
  • West Bengal (54th place) – Celebrated for Chingri Malai Curry, Shorshe Ilish, Ras Malai, and Kathi Roll.
  • Southern India (59th place) – Represented by Masala Dosa, Madras Curry, Hyderabadi Biryani, and more.

Meanwhile, in the 100 Best Cuisines in the World list, Indian cuisine ranked 12th globally.
