Over 10,000 participants representing more than 90 countries are set to gather in Rome for the grand Jubilee of Bands and Popular Entertainment. The celebration honours a wide array of musical traditions—from official and military bands to amateur, community, student, and folk ensembles—showcasing global cultural diversity.

The event draws pilgrims mostly from Italy, but also features large contingents from the United States, UK, Germany, Poland, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Malta, and Argentina. On Saturday, May 10, the faithful will walk through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., a traditional act of pilgrimage.

In the evening, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., a spectacular open-air concert will unfold across 31 squares in the heart of Rome. More than 100 bands from around the world will perform simultaneously, filling the historic city with rhythm, colour, and cheer. Attendees can find detailed performance schedules via the official Jubilee website and the Iubilaeum25 app.

The festivities will conclude on Sunday, May 11, with a Mass led by Archbishop Rino Fisichella at 10 a.m. in Piazza Cavour. Entry begins at 8 a.m. and is open to all without tickets. Following the Mass, pilgrims in their traditional dress and instruments in hand will make a musical procession to St. Peter’s Square, playing their chosen pieces along the sacred route.
