As children worldwide wonder where Santa Claus is on Christmas Eve 2024, Heathrow Airport answered the call with a creative twist. On December 24, the airport’s Instagram account lit up with a charming video featuring its flight information display system (FIDS). The board showed “SANTA1” arriving at midnight from the North Pole, alongside the names of his reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph.
The video’s caption read: “SANTA1 is scheduled to arrive at #Heathrow. Our Christmas Day arrivals board is LIVE across terminals, marking Santa and his reindeer’s magical stop on their global journey.” Passengers were humorously advised to guard their carrots: “Unattended carrots may be sniffed and eaten.”
Social media users loved the festive fun, with nearly 140,000 views and over 5,000 likes. Comments ranged from praise for the creativity to playful jabs about Santa facing delays at busy Terminal 5.
Heathrow further embraced the holiday spirit by introducing festive additions across terminals. Visitors could snap photos with Bjorn, a giant polar bear, or enjoy performances by “The Jingle Belles,” a quartet singing Christmas harmonies. A free gift-wrapping station added extra convenience for last-minute travelers.
This thoughtful and whimsical approach by Heathrow Airport brought joy to travelers and reminded everyone that Christmas magic truly knows no bounds.
