Washington : US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg issued a stern warning on Monday, emphasizing the crucial need for human drivers to remain vigilant and fully engaged while behind the wheel. This caution comes in response to circulating videos depicting individuals purportedly utilizing Tesla vehicles while wearing what appeared to be Apple’s newly introduced Vision Pro headset.
Buttigieg addressed the matter on X, addressing a video that garnered over 24 million views, showcasing a Tesla driver seemingly interacting with virtual reality elements through hand gestures while driving.

“It’s imperative to underscore that all advanced driver assistance systems currently available mandate the continuous attention and control of the human driver,” Buttigieg emphasized.
Apple’s Vision Pro, launched just last week, merges three-dimensional digital content with real-world surroundings. Despite Apple’s clear directive against using the device while operating a moving vehicle, the company has yet to comment on the emerging concerns.
Meanwhile, Tesla, upon request, remained silent on the issue.
Buttigieg’s stance echoes his previous remarks regarding Tesla’s Autopilot system, reiterating that such advanced features should only be utilized with a fully attentive driver prepared to assume control at any moment. Tesla, for its part, maintains that its driver assistance features are designed for operation with hands on the wheel and constant driver readiness.
