Meta has rolled out parental supervision tools for Threads in India, giving parents and guardians new ways to manage teenagers’ screen time, nighttime access, privacy and content settings.
The rollout is part of Meta’s wider expansion of parental supervision tools across its platforms and is now available across the Asia-Pacific region, including India.
Parents can set daily screen-time limits
Through Meta’s Family Centre, parents can view how much time their teenager has spent on Threads each day during the previous week, along with the average daily usage.
They can also set daily time limits and block access to Threads during selected days or hours. If a teenager uses Threads on multiple devices, the time limit applies to their combined usage.
Sleep mode and privacy controls added
Parents can adjust sleep mode, which can limit or block Threads usage at night. Under the default setting, notifications are muted and automatic replies are enabled between 10 pm and 7 am.
The new controls also allow parents to manage who can tag their teenager in posts and oversee certain privacy and sensitive-content settings.
Threads’ Teen Accounts already include protections such as private accounts and restrictions on the content teenagers can see. For users under 16, parents can decide whether they are allowed to make certain safety settings less restrictive.
Meta said the new supervision tools are intended to give families greater visibility and control over teenagers’ experiences on Threads while building on protections already available through Teen Accounts.
