A family in Telangana is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of 40-year-old Ashtam Premsagar, a migrant worker from Nirmal district, who was fatally stabbed in Dubai on April 11. The assailant, reportedly a Pakistani coworker, attacked him during a quarrel at their workplace.

Premsagar had been employed with a bakery chain in Dubai for over two years, having moved there to support his extended family back home. At the time of his departure, his wife Pramila was expecting their second child. Tragically, he never got the chance to meet his younger daughter and was planning a long-awaited visit to reunite with his family.

His grieving relatives were informed of the incident by other family members living in Dubai on April 12. Another man from Nizamabad district also lost his life in the same attack, although his identity has not been officially verified.

“He was targeted just because he was Indian,” said his brother Sandeep, urging both justice and government intervention. “He begged for his life, reminding the attacker about his daughters and aging parents. But he showed no mercy.”

Adding to the anguish, the family claims they have not received any formal communication from Premsagar’s employer or authorities in Dubai. “It’s been five days, and we’re still waiting for any official word. All we have are updates from relatives,” said a family member.

Efforts are ongoing to bring his body home for final rites.
