A United Airlines flight had to be evacuated after catching fire while taxing for takeoff at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Sunday, February 2, 2025. The flames, which erupted from one of the plane’s wings, led to immediate panic among the passengers. Despite the alarming situation, the Houston Fire Department (HFD) confirmed that no injuries occurred.

As the crew halted the plane’s takeoff, emergency services swiftly responded, with HFD firefighters helping to evacuate all 104 passengers and five crew members aboard. A video captured by a passenger showed frantic screams from those on board as they witnessed the fire. One person could be heard desperately shouting, “Please, please, please, get us out of here.”

The incident caused widespread concern but was handled swiftly by emergency personnel. Authorities clarified that no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely removed from the plane.

This alarming event follows a series of unfortunate aviation incidents. Just days before, a plane crashed near a mall in Philadelphia, claiming seven lives and injuring 19 others.
