A tragic incident has been reported involving a US woman who died after sustaining a head injury while zip-lining in Puerto Rico during a vacation.
Tamirah Dix (40), a resident of Marietta, Georgia, reportedly struck her head during the activity on Saturday. Despite the impact, she initially appeared fine and continued with her plans for the rest of the day.
Condition worsens overnight
According to her family, Dix went to sleep later that night but began experiencing seizures soon after. She was rushed for medical assistance but tragically passed away on the way to the hospital.
Her family described the incident as a “freak accident,” highlighting how quickly the situation escalated.
Remembered as caring and vibrant
Dix’s loved ones remembered her as an adventurous and compassionate person who brought joy to those around her. Friends described her as someone who uplifted others and maintained close relationships with family and friends.
She was the youngest among four siblings and shared a special bond with her nieces and nephews.
Community support and final arrangements
Her family has initiated a fundraiser to help cover the costs of transporting her body back home and arranging funeral services. A vigil is also being planned in Marietta to honour her memory.
Safety reminder
The incident underscores the importance of seeking immediate medical attention after head injuries, even if symptoms appear mild at first, as complications can develop later.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.
