An Indiana woman, Brieonna Cassell, was miraculously found alive after being trapped in her wrecked car for six days. Despite broken ribs, a fractured arm, and both legs, she remained conscious and responsive when rescuers arrived.

Discovery and Rescue

A passerby operating machinery in Brooklyn, Indiana, spotted the vehicle off the road and alerted his supervisor, Jeremy Vanderwell, a fire chief in a nearby town. Upon checking, they found Ms. Cassell alone in the car, severely injured but fully aware of her condition.

The Accident

Cassell, 41 and a mother of three, was driving home from a friend’s place near Wheatfield and DeMotte last Wednesday when she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Her vehicle went off the road and got stuck in an embankment, leaving her stranded with no way to call for help as her phone’s battery had died.

How She Survived

With no food or water, she managed to stay alive by dipping her sweater in a creek behind her car, squeezing out water, and drinking it.

Family’s Relief

Her mother, Kim Brown, said, “I felt something was wrong. I just can’t wait to hug her.” Cassell is now in the ICU in a Chicago hospital, facing a long road to recovery.
