San Antonio: A-42-year-old man of Indian origin met a tragic end when police officers shot and killed him after he allegedly struck two officers with his vehicle while they were attempting to apprehend him in connection with an aggravated assault case. Identified as Sachin Sahoo, the incident occurred on April 21, with Officer Tyler Turner firing the fatal shots.

Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Sahoo was possibly a naturalized US citizen, sources indicated. The events unfolded when officers responded to a report of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon at a residence in Cheviot Heights. Upon arrival, they discovered a 51-year-old woman who had been deliberately hit by a vehicle, allegedly driven by Sahoo. The victim was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, while Sahoo fled the scene. Subsequently, a felony arrest warrant was issued for him.

Hours later, neighbors alerted the police about Sahoo’s return to the scene. When officers attempted to approach him, he allegedly struck two of them with his vehicle. In response, one officer discharged his weapon, fatally injuring Sahoo. One officer sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment, while the other was treated at the scene. Fortunately, there were no other casualties reported.

Police Chief Bill McManus disclosed that Sahoo had allegedly run over the woman, identified as his roommate, with his vehicle, leaving her in critical condition and requiring multiple surgeries. The attempt to arrest Sahoo led to the confrontation with the officers, during which he allegedly attempted to evade capture by driving his vehicle at them.

McManus stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the body camera footage will be reviewed to gather further details. According to a report, Sahoo’s ex-wife Leah Goldstein revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had struggled with it for the past decade, along with symptoms resembling schizophrenia. Despite his challenges, she described him as a loving father who provided for their family while she stayed at home.
