Townsville: In a day and age where a good night’s sleep is a rarity, anything that disturbs whatever little rest we get is usually regarded with much anger and spite.
Being woken up by an ill timed alarm, an unwelcome call, or a dog breaking the peace of night, usually sets an unpleasant mood for the rest of the day.
Being woken up by a snake, on the other hand, could really send you into a spiral of disbelief.
“I cannot believe this just happened but I was woken from my sleep by this little fella, think he tried to bite me on the back of my leg,” said an Australian woman on her Facebook wall.
Adele Mallard, a resident of Townsville, detailed her ordeal in a post dated January 15, after she was abruptly woken up in the dead of night when a snake crawled into her bed. She even shared photos of the creature which was later identified as a python. Pythons, even though non-venemous, are truly a sight to behold and the fear that they inspire is not misplaced. They are known for their tight grasp owing to their really strong muscles and can squeeze a person to death.
At the time of the incident, Mallard was asleep in her bed and woke up after getting a weird feeling, only to find the python!
Recounting the night’s events, she told the Townsville Bulletin, “I rolled over during the night and I guess he didn’t appreciate that.” Mallard even felt the python try to bite her after which she woke her husband.
Her husband came to her aid and caught the slithery creature with the help of a pillow case.
The python has now been rehomed.
