Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that combat operations are still ongoing in Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of an Easter ceasefire.

“Putin’s Easter ceasefire declaration clearly does not apply to Kursk and Belgorod,” Zelenskyy wrote in a social media update. He pointed out that active hostilities and Russian shelling remain ongoing in those areas, where Ukrainian forces had previously launched cross-border operations.

His remarks cast further doubt on the sincerity and reach of the 30-hour truce Putin claimed was for humanitarian reasons, which began Saturday evening.
