A devastating accident in Yadgir district claimed the lives of five family members, including three young children, on Wednesday. The crash occurred near Tinthani Arch under Surapura police station limits.
The victims were identified as 35-year-old Anjaneya, his 28-year-old wife Gangamma, their children—five-year-old Pavithra and three-year-old Rayappa—and Anjaneya’s one-year-old nephew, Hanumantha.
According to reports, the family was riding a bike from Surapura to Tinthani when a Kalyan Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKSRTC) bus lost control and rammed into them from behind. The impact killed three on the spot, while the remaining two succumbed en route to the hospital. The bike was completely wrecked.
This tragedy comes just days after two horrific accidents in Karnataka’s Karwar and Raichur districts on January 22, which left 14 dead and 25 injured.
In Karwar, a truck carrying vegetable vendors overturned on NH-63 in Yellapura taluk, killing 10 and injuring 15. Survivors reported hearing a tyre burst before the truck lost control. The victims, from Savanur village in Haveri, were buried under fallen vegetables.
In Raichur, four people, including three students, perished when their vehicle overturned at Araginamara Camp near Sindhanur town.
