Yadgir : Yadgir, one of Karnataka’s most economically challenged districts, has received a significant boost in connectivity with the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express. On Saturday night, Minister of State for Railways V Somanna flagged off the new SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express (train number 22232), which now includes an additional stop at Yadgir.

Enhanced Train Service

The Vande Bharat Express will operate with a departure from Yadgir at 5:55 am towards Bengaluru and an evening return service at 9:44 pm towards Kalaburagi. This addition is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for residents of Yadgir, linking them more efficiently to major cities in Karnataka.

Railway Infrastructure Upgrades

Minister Somanna announced that a significant investment is being made in upgrading railway infrastructure across Karnataka. A total of 59 railway stations are set to be enhanced at an estimated cost of Rs 2,900 crore. Specifically, Yadgir’s station is undergoing improvements with an investment of Rs 7.5 crore, while Kalaburagi’s station will see upgrades worth Rs 12.5 crore.

These developments are part of a broader effort to improve railway services and infrastructure in the state, aiming to better connect remote and underdeveloped regions with major urban centres.
