In a horrific road accident, six people were burnt alive after a car collided head-on with a private bus and both vehicles caught fire in Yadgir district on Friday.

Police said the tragedy occurred near Devapur in Surpur taluk under the jurisdiction of Surpur Police Station.

Car occupants trapped in blaze

when it collided with a private bus coming from Bengaluru towards Kalaburagi.

The impact was severe, and both the car and bus reportedly caught fire immediately. The car was completely gutted, killing six occupants on the spot.

Two rescued, one critical

Locals managed to rescue two persons from the car. Both sustained serious burn injuries and were shifted to hospital. Officials said one of them remains in critical condition.

Rescue teams rushed to spot

Fire and emergency services personnel reached the scene to douse the flames, while police began investigation into the exact cause of the crash.

Authorities said the identities of the deceased were yet to be officially confirmed.

The tragedy has once again raised concerns over highway safety and fiery post-collision accidents involving long-distance passenger buses and cars.
