Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior Airport has been renovated. Using local craftsmen, East Craft Designs Pvt. Ltd., led by the visionary Mr. Krishnan Rajesh, has decorated the airport with eye-catching artwork that skillfully combines modern and traditional elements.
The departure check-in area, where guests are welcomed by a breathtaking display of ceiling art, is at the center of the makeover. 48 panels that hang 20 meters above the ground highlight the rich history and culture of Gwalior. The meticulous craftsmanship of each panel portrays historical scenes from the city’s past, resulting in an enthralling visual experience.
Each panel is designed to create a grand chandelier effect, adding to the airport’s ambiance. This project not only highlights local talent but also celebrates Gwalior’s cultural heritage, making the airport more than just a transit hub.
Reflecting more on the project, Mr. Krishnan Rajesh, a founding director of East Craft, emphasized the collaborative effort between local artisans and craftsmen from across Madhya Pradesh and with the immense support from the Art Curator, AAI. Together, they seamlessly integrated age-old weaving, embroidery, and block printing techniques with contemporary design elements, resulting in a masterpiece that pays homage to Gwalior’s vibrant heritage.
