New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India is set to launch the facelifted 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on October 5. The updated ultra-luxury sedan made its global debut earlier this year and brings a series of exterior, technology, powertrain and comfort upgrades.

The facelifted Maybach S-Class continues to sit at the top end of Mercedes-Benz’s passenger vehicle lineup, with the latest model adding more Maybach-specific design elements, expanded personalisation choices and upgraded rear-seat features.

The international version is already on sale in several markets, while the India-specification is expected to follow the same broad set of upgrades.

2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets new exterior design

The updated Maybach S-Class retains the model’s distinctive vertical-slat grille, but the grille is now around 20 per cent larger and gets LED illumination.

An illuminated Mercedes star is positioned on the bonnet above the grille, while an illuminated Maybach wordmark sits above the grille slats. The lower air dams also receive a mesh pattern made up of tiny Maybach logos, similar to the design treatment seen on the Maybach SL.

The facelift brings larger headlights featuring three-pointed star-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, the tail-lamps feature a star-themed LED signature similar to the standard S-Class.

The Maybach emblem on the D-pillar is also illuminated.

The luxury sedan remains 180mm longer than the standard long-wheelbase S-Class, while buyers in international markets can choose from new forged alloy wheels in 20-inch and 21-inch sizes.

The multi-spoke wheels feature a counterweighted Mercedes logo designed to remain upright as the wheels rotate.

Maybach S-Class gets upgraded cabin technology

The biggest changes inside the cabin centre around the updated digital interface.

The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class adopts the S-Class-style Superscreen layout, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger.

A new electrical and electronic architecture uses four high-performance computers to manage the vehicle’s displays, safety systems and driving dynamics.

Mercedes-Maybach has also expanded the personalisation options available through its Manufaktur programme.

Customers can choose from additional exterior colours, two-tone paint combinations and a wider range of leather upholstery options. The upholstery can also extend to lower sections of the cabin, including areas around the footwell.

For the first time on a Maybach model, Mercedes is also offering a leather-free vegan upholstery option with a distinctive design.

Rear passengers get more comfort features

Rear-seat comfort remains one of the key priorities of the Maybach S-Class.

The rear seats can recline up to 43 degrees, compared with 38 degrees in the standard S-Class. The seats also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions.

Another change is the replacement of the earlier tablet-style controller with two individual smartphone-style remotes.

These remotes allow rear passengers to control various functions within the cabin.

The additional comfort and personalisation features are designed to reinforce the Maybach S-Class’s focus on chauffeur-driven luxury.

2026 Maybach S-Class powertrain options

Internationally, the facelifted Maybach S-Class is offered with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains, depending on the market.

The S 580 gets an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft. It produces 537 hp and 750 Nm of torque.

Some international markets also receive the S 580e plug-in hybrid, which combines a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with a 163 hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery.

The S 580e develops a combined 585 hp and 750 Nm, with an electric-only driving range of up to 98km.

The range-topping S 680 is offered with either a V12 engine or a more powerful version of the V8, depending on the market.

Which Maybach S-Class could come to India?

For the Indian market, the S 580 is the most likely version based on the information provided. However, the final India-specification powertrain and variants are yet to be confirmed.

If Mercedes-Benz uses the S 680 badge for the Indian market, the car could potentially feature the more powerful 4.0-litre V8 version producing 612 hp and 850 Nm.

The current Mercedes-Maybach S 580 is priced at Rs 2.87 crore (ex-showroom) in India before optional equipment. The facelifted model is expected to command a premium depending on its final specification and equipment.

2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class India launch

The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will make its Indian debut on October 5. The launch comes slightly more than six months after the model’s global debut in March.

With its refreshed styling, Superscreen-equipped cabin, expanded Manufaktur personalisation programme and upgraded powertrain options, the new Maybach S-Class is set to continue as Mercedes-Benz’s flagship luxury sedan offering in India.

Mercedes-Benz India is expected to reveal the final India-specific specifications, variant details and pricing closer to the launch
