India: Aprilia has launched the new SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 maxi-scooters in India, bringing back the SXR nameplate with updated engines, larger wheels and additional features. Prices start at Rs 1.11 lakh for the SXR GT 125, while the SXR GT 175 is priced at Rs 1.31 lakh, with both prices being ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings for the two scooters are now open across India.
The SXR GT range revives Aprilia’s maxi-scooter offering after the earlier SXR 125 and SXR 160 were discontinued. The new models retain the familiar maxi-scooter design while adopting the updated powertrains and hardware used in Aprilia’s newer scooter range.
Aprilia SXR GT prices and variants
The new range is available in two variants: the SXR GT 125 hp-e and SXR GT 175 hp-e.
The SXR GT 125 is priced at Rs 1.11 lakh, while the SXR GT 175 costs Rs 1.31 lakh. The Rs 20,000 price difference brings a larger engine as well as additional technology and safety equipment on the 175.
Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi, meaning the final on-road price will vary depending on registration, insurance and other charges in different cities.
The two scooters share the same basic maxi-scooter design and use 14-inch wheels, but differ in engine capacity, instrumentation and braking technology.
SXR GT 125 gets 124.5cc engine
The Aprilia SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.5cc, single-cylinder engine. It produces 10.6 hp at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,200 rpm.
The engine is part of Aprilia’s hp-e family and is BS6 OBD-II Stage B compliant. It is also compatible with E20 fuel.
The scooter gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster and a combined braking system (CBS). Unlike the larger model, the 125 does not get the TFT connectivity package offered on the SXR GT 175.
The 125cc model is aimed at buyers looking for the maxi-scooter styling and practicality of the SXR range while keeping the purchase price lower.
SXR GT 175 gets more power and technology
The SXR GT 175 uses a 174.7cc single-cylinder engine producing 13.3 hp at 7,200 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm.
Like the smaller engine, the 175 is E20-compatible and meets BS6 OBD-II Stage B emission requirements.
The bigger scooter receives several additional features. It gets a 5-inch TFT instrument display with Bluetooth connectivity, music and call management, turn-by-turn navigation and additional handlebar-mounted controls.
The SXR GT 175 also gets single-channel ABS, while the 125 uses CBS. The front brake uses a 220 mm disc, with a rear drum brake.
Both scooters get 14-inch wheels
One of the important hardware changes in the new SXR GT range is the move to 14-inch wheels.
The earlier SXR scooters used 12-inch wheels, while the new SXR GT 125 and 175 receive larger 14-inch units. The larger wheel setup is intended to complement the scooters’ urban touring positioning and can offer greater stability over different road surfaces.
The scooters retain the familiar SXR maxi-scooter silhouette, including Aprilia’s distinctive front-end styling and signature Tripod LED headlamp design.
The new range also receives revised body graphics and a selection of six colours across the two variants.
SXR GT 175 gets connected features
Aprilia has positioned the SXR GT 175 as the more feature-rich model in the new range.
Its 5-inch TFT display provides access to Bluetooth-based connectivity features. The system supports functions such as music and call management, while turn-by-turn navigation is also available.
The larger model also gets additional handlebar-mounted controls, making it easier for riders to access the connected functions while riding.
The SXR GT 125, meanwhile, uses a simpler 5-inch LCD display and does not receive the same connectivity package.
This equipment difference is one of the major distinctions between the two variants, alongside the larger engine and different braking system on the 175.
Maxi-scooter design retained
Despite the mechanical updates, Aprilia has retained the overall design identity associated with the SXR family.
The scooters feature a broad, semi-faired body with a large front section, a long seat and touring-oriented styling. The signature Tripod LED headlamp arrangement continues to give the scooters a distinctive appearance.
The SXR GT range is intended to combine everyday urban riding with longer-distance touring capability. Aprilia has therefore retained the maxi-scooter format rather than shifting to a conventional compact scooter design.
The new models also receive fresh colour options. The SXR GT 125 is offered in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White, while the SXR GT 175 gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green.
Bookings open across India
With the launch of the two models, Aprilia has opened bookings for the SXR GT range across the country.
The SXR GT 125 provides the lower-priced entry point, while the SXR GT 175 targets customers willing to spend more for additional performance and equipment.
The Rs 1.11 lakh starting price places the new SXR GT 125 in the premium scooter segment, while the Rs 1.31 lakh SXR GT 175 moves further into the higher-capacity maxi-scooter space.
The final on-road cost will vary according to the buyer’s location and individual insurance and registration charges.
SXR nameplate returns to India
The launch marks the return of the SXR nameplate to Aprilia’s Indian portfolio.
The previous SXR 125 and SXR 160 models were discontinued earlier in 2026. The new SXR GT models now fill that gap while retaining the maxi-scooter character associated with the earlier models.
Aprilia has also used the updated engine technology and larger-wheel setup to distinguish the new range from its predecessors.
The introduction of two engine options gives buyers a choice between a more affordable 125cc model and a more powerful 175cc version with additional technology.
Conclusion
Aprilia has launched the SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 in India, with prices starting at Rs 1.11 lakh and going up to Rs 1.31 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Both scooters get 14-inch wheels, E20-compatible engines and maxi-scooter styling. The SXR GT 175 adds a larger 174.7cc engine, 5-inch TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and single-channel ABS, while the 125 gets a 124.5cc engine, LCD display and CBS. Bookings are now open across India.
