India: Oben Electric has recorded its highest-ever monthly registrations after 1,417 electric motorcycles were registered in September 2026, making the Bengaluru-based company the top performer among the five manufacturers listed in the Vahan dashboard’s electric motorcycle category.

The September figure puts Oben ahead of Revolt Intellicorp, Ultraviolette Automotive, Matter Motor Works and Raptee Energy in the electric motorcycle segment. The company attributed the strong performance largely to demand for its Rorr Evo electric motorcycle.

Oben records 1,417 registrations in September

Oben Electric registered 1,417 electric motorcycles in September, its strongest monthly performance since entering the market.

Revolt Intellicorp followed with 1,027 registrations, while Ultraviolette Automotive recorded 536 units. Matter Motor Works and Raptee Energy registered 69 and 17 units, respectively.

Together, the five manufacturers accounted for 3,066 electric motorcycle registrations during the month. Oben’s 1,417 units represented about 46.2% of this combined figure, putting the company ahead of its closest competitors in the category.

The September result is significant because electric motorcycles continue to represent a smaller segment of India’s overall electric two-wheeler market compared with electric scooters. However, the latest registration figures indicate growing competition among manufacturers focused specifically on electric motorcycles.

Rorr Evo drives demand

Oben said the Rorr Evo played a major role in its September performance.

The motorcycle has been developed around what the company describes as a motorcycle-first approach, with an emphasis on performance, styling, technology and everyday usability rather than simply adapting the design of a conventional scooter to electric power.

The Rorr Evo received more than 25,000 bookings within 15 days of its launch earlier in 2026, according to earlier reports. Its initial introductory price was Rs 99,999, while the price was subsequently increased to Rs 1.25 lakh for customers taking deliveries after the introductory period.

The motorcycle uses a 3.4kWh LFP battery pack and has an IDC range of 180 km on a single charge, according to reported specifications.

The strong response to the model has helped Oben build momentum in a segment where established electric scooter manufacturers are also expanding into higher-performance electric motorcycles.

Oben crosses 10,000 production milestone

The September registration achievement comes alongside another production milestone for the company.

Oben Electric has crossed cumulative production of 10,000 electric motorcycles at its Bengaluru manufacturing facility. The plant has an annual production capacity of 1 lakh motorcycles, giving the company room to increase output as demand grows.

The manufacturing facility is spread across 3.5 acres and is designed to support the company’s growing electric motorcycle operations.

The production milestone is particularly important as Oben works to expand its presence beyond its initial markets. Higher production capacity will allow the company to support deliveries as its retail network expands across different parts of India.

Bengaluru remains the manufacturing base

Oben Electric is headquartered in Bengaluru, which also serves as the company’s manufacturing and technology base.

The company has been developing several important EV components in-house as part of its focus on localised electric vehicle technology.

Its reported capabilities include LFP battery technology, electric motors, vehicle control units and software. The company has positioned this in-house approach as part of its broader focus on developing electric motorcycles specifically for Indian riding conditions.

Developing key components internally can also give manufacturers greater control over product development, software integration and future updates as the electric motorcycle segment evolves.

Retail network expands across India

Alongside production, Oben has been expanding its sales and service network.

The company has more than 150 showrooms and service centres across over 90 cities in 18 states, according to the latest information reported by NDTV. The network is intended to provide customers with access to sales, servicing and after-sales support as the company increases its geographical presence.

For a relatively young electric motorcycle manufacturer, building a wider service network is particularly important because customers often consider service availability and spare-parts support when choosing an EV brand.

The expansion also allows Oben to target markets outside major metropolitan areas, where electric two-wheelers are increasingly being considered for daily commuting.

Oben leads a competitive electric motorcycle market

Oben’s September performance came ahead of several other specialist electric motorcycle manufacturers.

Revolt’s 1,027 registrations placed it second in the category, followed by Ultraviolette with 536 units. Matter and Raptee recorded substantially smaller volumes during the month.

The results show the different scales at which India’s electric motorcycle manufacturers are currently operating.

While Oben and Revolt crossed the 1,000-unit mark for the month, Ultraviolette remained below that level but ahead of Matter and Raptee. The competitive landscape is expected to change as manufacturers introduce new products and expand their retail networks.

The electric motorcycle segment also differs considerably from the broader electric two-wheeler market, where scooters account for much larger volumes.

Electric motorcycles still a smaller EV segment

Oben’s September achievement should be viewed in the context of the much larger electric two-wheeler market.

In the broader electric two-wheeler category, Oben ranked 11th among the top 25 manufacturers in September, with around 0.7% of the 2,05,951 units registered by those manufacturers. TVS Motor led that broader table with 53,990 units, followed by Bajaj Auto with 48,383 units.

This distinction highlights the difference between being the leading electric motorcycle manufacturer and leading the overall electric two-wheeler market.

Oben’s strength currently lies in the motorcycle-focused EV segment, where its Rorr range competes with products from other specialist manufacturers.

Production capacity offers room for growth

With an annual production capacity of 1 lakh motorcycles, Oben’s Bengaluru facility has considerable capacity compared with its current monthly registration volumes.

The 1,417 motorcycles registered in September were equivalent to roughly 17% of the plant’s average monthly capacity if annual capacity were evenly distributed throughout the year. This indicates that the company has production headroom as it seeks to increase sales.

However, expanding production capacity alone does not guarantee higher registrations. The company will also need to maintain product availability, strengthen its dealer and service network and continue generating demand for its electric motorcycles.

Company focuses on making electric motorcycles mainstream

Oben Electric founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal said the company believes electric motorcycles will play an important role in India’s transition to electric mobility.

The company has sought to position its motorcycles as alternatives for riders who are accustomed to conventional motorcycles rather than limiting EVs to the scooter segment.

This approach is relevant to India’s two-wheeler market, where motorcycles account for a large share of everyday commuting.

As more manufacturers introduce electric motorcycles with greater performance, range and technology, the segment could gradually attract customers who may not consider switching from petrol motorcycles to electric scooters.

Conclusion

Oben Electric recorded 1,417 electric motorcycle registrations in September 2026, its highest-ever monthly figure and the top volume among the five manufacturers listed in the Vahan electric motorcycle category. The Bengaluru-based company credited demand for the Rorr Evo for the growth and has now crossed 10,000 cumulative electric motorcycle production. With a manufacturing capacity of 1 lakh units annually and a network spanning more than 90 cities, Oben is expanding its presence as competition in India’s electric motorcycle market intensifies.
