Actor and producer Anushka Sharma has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede near Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives and left 47 injured. The chaos unfolded as an overwhelming crowd of nearly two lakh fans gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s first-ever IPL title win after 18 seasons.

What began as a jubilant event quickly turned grim when fans surged toward a narrow entrance at the stadium, RCB’s home ground. The police struggled to manage the situation, resulting in panic and tragedy. An open bus parade featuring team members, including Anushka’s husband and RCB star Virat Kohli, had been planned to greet fans lining the streets.

Anushka, visibly affected, reshared the team’s official condolence message on her Instagram account, accompanied by three broken heart emojis. The RCB statement acknowledged the incident with deep regret and emphasized that public safety remains their top priority. It noted that upon learning of the incident, the team altered its plans in accordance with the authorities’ directions.

“We are devastated by the loss and extend our sympathies to those affected,” read the statement, underscoring the gravity of the tragedy overshadowing their long-awaited victory.

Earlier in the day, Anushka had shared cheerful glimpses from inside the team bus, showing Virat Kohli holding the IPL trophy. Her caption, “Namma Bengaluru current scenes,” along with folded hands emojis, reflected the pride and joy that quickly turned into grief.
