In a major anti-corruption operation, the Lokayukta police arrested two serving officers and a private individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh. The incident came to light on Saturday, and officials confirmed the recovery of the illegal amount.

The accused have been identified as Rajshekar (48), Police Inspector of Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station, Ruman Pasha (32), Sub-Inspector, and Imran Babu (32), a resident of Devara Jeevanahalli.

According to Lokayukta officials, the officers had allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh from Manjunath (47), a resident of KR Puram, in return for investigating his complaint. The case reportedly involved a domestic dispute related to missing jewellery and cash. Acting on the complaint, Lokayukta officers laid a trap, leading to the arrest of the accused while they were in the process of accepting part of the bribe.

Officials confirmed that ₹1 lakh in cash was seized from the accused. Following the arrests, an investigation has been launched to determine the extent of involvement of the officers and the private individual in the bribery demand.

This incident has once again highlighted concerns over corruption in the police force, prompting calls for stricter internal vigilance and accountability within law enforcement agencies.

The Lokayukta, which has been actively cracking down on graft cases across Karnataka, assured that the matter would be pursued thoroughly to ensure justice.
