Bengaluru — Two policemen attached to the DJ Halli Police Station have been suspended following a complaint of sexual harassment filed by a beautician on 27 October 2025.

Allegations and action taken

According to the complaint, the officers allegedly harassed the woman while on duty. After she reported the incident, senior police officials immediately took cognisance of the matter and ordered a departmental probe. A special team was formed to trace, detain and suspend the accused officers pending further investigation.
The swift action highlights the department’s attempt to maintain accountability within the force and signals a zero-tolerance approach towards such misconduct.

Context and implications

Cases of alleged harassment by police personnel often draw sharp public criticism and can severely damage community trust. The suspension of the two officers underscores the seriousness with which the department has treated the allegations.
The complainant’s decision to come forward is seen as a significant step in ensuring that officers accused of wrongdoing are investigated transparently. Women’s rights groups have also urged authorities to ensure that the investigation remains impartial and victim-centred.

What’s next

The special investigation team is gathering evidence, recording statements and preparing a detailed report for departmental inquiry. If the allegations are substantiated, the officers could face strict disciplinary action, including dismissal, and may also be charged under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and the Indian Penal Code.
The final outcome will depend on the findings of both the internal inquiry and any subsequent legal proceedings.
