Only 5.7% of Bengaluru couples spend over ₹1 crore on weddings, compared to the national average of 9%. The survey, conducted across 3,500 engaged couples in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, highlights the growing role of digital tools in wedding planning, says Mehak Sagar Shahani, Co-founder of WedMeGood.
Key Trends in Bengaluru Weddings
- Social Media’s Role: Couples increasingly meet through social platforms rather than traditional dating or matrimonial apps.
- Wedding Planners: Usage has surged by 15% year-on-year, driven by the rise in destination weddings, which now account for 25% of all weddings.
- Sustainability Focus: Over 45% of couples choose lab-grown diamonds, while 52% make eco-friendly choices, such as reducing plastic or donating surplus food.
Destination weddings dominate the luxury segment, with 60% of ₹1 crore+ weddings opting for scenic locales. Other emerging trends include hiring social media managers for wedding coverage, bachelorette trips, and open discussions about finances and mental health before marriage.
