Bengaluru: Kengeri police have arrested a cab driver for the murder of his wife, allegedly due to an extramarital affair. Kiran (31), a resident of Bhadravati in Shimoga district, was taken into custody for strangling his wife, Navyasree (28).

The couple, married for three years, had met and fallen in love in Bhadravati. Kiran worked as a cab driver, while Navyasree was a dance teacher. However, their relationship deteriorated after Kiran discovered that Navyasree was involved in an affair with his friend, Anil.

Despite confronting both his wife and Anil about the illicit relationship, Navyasree continued to maintain a close bond with Anil, even while living with Kiran. She frequently engaged in video calls with Anil, leading to frequent arguments between the couple.

On Tuesday morning, Navyasree invited her friend Aishwarya to visit her home. During their conversation, Navyasree expressed her discomfort and unhappiness at home. The two friends then decided to go out and meet Anil.

After discussing the situation with Anil, he advised Navyasree to file a complaint against Kiran at the police station. However, upon returning home, Aishwarya fell asleep after consuming alcohol, unaware of the tragic events that were about to unfold.

While Aishwarya was asleep, Kiran confronted Navyasree, demanding that she send Aishwarya away. When Navyasree refused and threatened Kiran with a knife, he became enraged and used the same knife to kill her.

Aishwarya awoke around 6 a.m. to find Navyasree’s body and immediately raised the alarm, alerting the locals. Upon receiving information about the incident, Kengeri police arrived at the scene, registered a case, and subsequently arrested Kiran.
