BM Parvathi, wife of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, was hospitalised on Monday and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Apollo Hospitals in Seshadripuram. Her sudden hospitalisation prompted several senior Congress leaders to visit the facility to check on her condition and extend support to the family.
Congress leaders visit hospital to inquire about her health
Soon after news of Parvathi’s admission surfaced, a stream of Congress legislators and party leaders began arriving at the hospital. However, none were permitted to enter the ICU ward, with the hospital enforcing strict visitor restrictions.
Arsikere MLA K M Shivalinge Gowda, who was among the first to visit, said he spoke to the Chief Minister’s son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, for an update.
“I came here to check on her. Nobody is being allowed in. I spoke to Yathindra. He said his mother is doing fine and there’s no problem. I hope she gets well soon,” Gowda told reporters outside the hospital.
Despite the restricted access, leaders said that doctors have assured the family that Parvathi is stable and responding to treatment.
Parvathi Siddaramaiah’s low-profile public life
Parvathi, who married Siddaramaiah in 1977, is widely known for maintaining a low profile despite her husband’s long and high-profile political career. She rarely makes public appearances and is seldom seen at political events, preferring to stay away from the public eye.
Although details about her medical condition have not been disclosed officially, sources indicated that she is under close observation and receiving specialised care.
Leaders express support to the CM’s family
The Chief Minister’s family has received a steady flow of messages from ministers, MLAs and party workers. Several senior leaders are expected to visit the hospital over the next two days, depending on doctors’ advice and the family’s comfort.
Party sources said Siddaramaiah has been keeping in touch with doctors and monitoring his wife’s condition closely while also managing his official responsibilities.
Hospital issue official statement
Apollo Hospitals has released an official bulletin about Parvathi’s health. For now, the family has requested privacy, and leaders have urged supporters and the public not to speculate on her health.
