A mid-morning explosion in the boys’ toilet of a private school in Anekal on Tuesday sparked panic among students and staff, briefly reviving fears following the recent Red Fort blast in New Delhi.
The incident took place at Brainy Stars International School in Bingipura, where students and teachers rushed out of classrooms after hearing a loud noise from the restroom area.
Police confirm use of firecrackers
Police and emergency teams quickly arrived on the scene to assess the situation. Upon inspection, officers discovered remnants of ‘Lakshmi crackers’, confirming that the explosion was the result of a mischievous act rather than a serious security threat.
According to officials, the students responsible have been identified by the school management. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Officials issue warning, students counselled
Authorities have taken the matter seriously and cautioned students about the dangers of such pranks, particularly in a school setting. The involved students are being counselled, and the school has been advised to reinforce safety and disciplinary measures to prevent similar incidents.
Police have also appealed to parents to speak to their children about the potential consequences of using firecrackers in enclosed spaces.
