A tense conversation between a customer and a food delivery driver has gone viral on social media, with internet users divided over who was at fault after an order was allegedly returned without being delivered.
Screenshots of the exchange show a disagreement that began when the customer contacted the driver asking about the status of an order. The driver responded by claiming they had waited at the location for 20 minutes without receiving a response and had subsequently returned the order to the supermarket.
Dispute over delivery attempt
The customer disputed the driver’s version of events, alleging that the driver made little effort to locate the correct apartment unit despite already being at the address.
According to the messages, the customer pointed to GPS records and timestamps, arguing that the driver had not waited for the duration claimed. The customer also maintained that a simple effort to locate the unit would have resolved the issue.
The driver, however, insisted that the customer should have been outside the building and claimed the area was busy. The driver further stated that they had been carrying multiple bags and would have noticed the customer had they been waiting nearby.
Argument escalates
As the conversation continued, both sides accused each other of being untruthful.
The customer challenged the driver’s timeline, claiming the timestamps in the chat contradicted the assertion that 20 minutes had passed. The driver stood by the claim and warned that further messages would result in a report being filed with the delivery platform.
In response, the customer stated that a complaint had already been lodged against the driver.
Social media divided
The screenshots quickly attracted attention online, with users debating customer responsibility, delivery expectations and communication during doorstep deliveries.
While some social media users sided with the customer, arguing that delivery personnel should make reasonable efforts to locate addresses, others felt customers should remain reachable and provide clear instructions to avoid delays.
The identity of the individuals involved and the final outcome of the complaint process remain unknown.
