Bengaluru: In a dramatic twist, Karnataka Police have resolved a five-year-old murder case by arresting a man for killing his wife while investigating an unrelated matter in Ramanagara district. The suspect, Kiran, 37, had previously claimed that his wife had eloped with her lover.

Magadi Police Uncover the Truth

The Magadi Police uncovered the truth behind the murder of Pooja, Kiran’s wife, who was killed in 2019. Kiran, a resident of Hujagal village, initially came under suspicion in connection with the murder of Divya, the wife of another suspect named Umesh. Divya’s body was discovered on August 12 this year. While other suspects, including Shashank, Rohit, and Bharat, were arrested, Umesh and Kiran remained at large.

False Elopement Story

Kiran had previously told police that his wife, Pooja, had eloped with her paramour five years ago, leading him to file a missing persons report. However, inconsistencies in his story and conflicting statements from his acquaintances raised suspicions. Kiran’s mother-in-law had also reported that Kiran had mentioned Pooja’s elopement, which further intrigued investigators.

Confession and Evidence

During interrogation, Kiran admitted to murdering Pooja due to suspicions of infidelity. He revealed that he had disposed of her body in the Hoojal forest area of Magadi and later burned the remains to avoid detection. Following Kiran’s confession, police recovered bones and teeth from the forest, which have been sent for forensic analysis.

A murder case has been filed at the Magadi Police Station, and Kiran has been taken into custody.
