A 23-year-old man from Assam was allegedly abducted in Bengaluru and forced to delete a video from his phone before being released, police said.
Abduction near friend’s house
According to police, the victim, identified as Shabir alias Mohammed Sadir Khan, was picked up by five men near his friend’s residence in Laxmisagar Layout, TC Palya, on Sunday.
He was reportedly forced into an autorickshaw and taken towards Ramamurthy Nagar.
Threats to erase video
Police said the accused threatened Shabir and coerced him into deleting a video he had recorded. The clip allegedly showed the prime suspect, Sajid, with a woman.
After ensuring the video was deleted, the accused released Shabir around 2.30 pm.
Arrests made, search on for others
Based on the complaint, police arrested Sajid (23), a gig worker from TC Palya, and his associate Subramani (19), who works at a bakery.
Three other suspects involved in the incident are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them.
Case registered
The arrested individuals have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to abduction and criminal intimidation.
Investigation continues
Police officials said further investigation is ongoing to establish the full sequence of events and identify all those involved.
