In a major cyber fraud case, a Bengaluru-based nurse has allegedly lost ₹36.7 lakh after being lured by fraudsters who promised to arrange a German language certificate without an examination and secure her a job in Germany.

According to the complaint, the victim was exploring overseas employment opportunities when she came into contact with individuals claiming to have special arrangements for language certification and international placements.

Promise of easy certification

The accused allegedly convinced the nurse that they could bypass the standard German language examination process and directly provide a valid certificate that would improve her chances of securing employment abroad.

Investigators said the suspects projected themselves as professional recruitment facilitators with links to overseas agencies, making the offer appear genuine.

Believing the claims, the nurse agreed to proceed and began making payments as instructed.

Fraudsters sought money in stages

Police said the accused allegedly collected money under various pretexts, including registration charges, document verification, certificate processing fees, visa expenses and overseas placement services.

Each stage of the process reportedly involved fresh demands for additional payments. Trusting that the procedures were legitimate and would eventually lead to a job opportunity, the victim continued transferring funds over an extended period.

By the time she became suspicious, the total amount paid had reportedly reached ₹36.7 lakh.

Delays raised suspicion

The complainant alleged that whenever she sought updates, the accused provided assurances and claimed the process was nearing completion. Over time, communication became irregular and responses became increasingly infrequent.

After neither receiving the promised certificate nor any employment opportunity, she approached police and filed a complaint.

Cyber crime investigators have launched a probe and are examining bank transactions, digital payment records, phone numbers, emails and online communications linked to the case.

Experts urge caution

Cyber security experts have warned job seekers against offers promising guaranteed foreign employment, language certificates or visas through shortcuts that bypass official procedures.

Authorities have urged citizens to verify the credentials of recruitment agencies and certification providers before making payments and to avoid schemes that promise unusually easy access to overseas opportunities.#CyberFraud #Bengaluru #JobScam #GermanyJob #OnlineFraud #CyberCrime #KarnatakaNews #newskarnataka
