A police inspector attached to the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement has accused senior officers of caste-based harassment and warned of taking an extreme step if the alleged persecution continues.
The officer, Srinivas TR, is currently posted in the West Division of the department.
Allegations against senior officials
In a representation submitted to Umesh Kumar, Srinivas alleged that two officials at the headquarters had targeted him because he belongs to a Scheduled Caste community.
He further claimed he was pressured to favour upper-caste accused in cases registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Claims of false complaints
The inspector alleged that complainants were instigated to file false petitions against him and that inquiries were used as a tool to harass him.
He also said that despite obtaining a stay order from the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal against his transfer to Udupi, he was relieved from duty using fabricated documents.
Video goes viral
Srinivas reportedly recorded a video detailing the alleged harassment and shared it with senior officers. The clip later circulated widely on social media.
In the video, he warned that if the harassment and discrimination continued, those responsible would be accountable for any extreme step taken by him.
Awaiting official response
No formal response from the department regarding the allegations had been reported at the time of publication.
The incident has sparked renewed discussion on workplace discrimination, internal grievance redressal and employee welfare in public institutions.#Karnataka #PoliceNews #CasteHarassment #Bengaluru #SocialJustice #newskarnataka
