Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will take part in a protest in Bengaluru on August 4, where he plans to submit a formal representation to Election Commission officials regarding alleged electoral fraud. This move follows his recent claims that the Congress has uncovered the “modus operandi” of what he terms “vote theft” by deeply analyzing a parliamentary constituency in Karnataka.

On July 23, Gandhi, currently the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, accused the ruling party of “stealing elections” across India. He asserted that a detailed digital analysis of a Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka revealed large-scale irregularities. “We took the printed voter list, digitized it, and studied it over six months. We’ve now identified exactly how voter manipulation happens, including how fake voters are added and genuine names removed,” Gandhi said.

State Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed Gandhi’s visit and stated that the Karnataka Congress will organize the protest. “After the event, he will meet with Election Commission officials and present the findings. The plan is being finalized by party president D K Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” Parameshwara noted. The protest will be conducted without any procession, respecting a 2022 High Court directive.

Gandhi previously described the alleged electoral manipulation in Karnataka as “bhayankar chori” (massive theft), promising to expose the details publicly. CM Siddaramaiah echoed Gandhi’s concerns, blaming Congress’s Lok Sabha losses on illegal voter list tampering, allegedly carried out by the BJP with the help of the Election Commission.
