A 36-year-old rowdy-sheeter was brutally murdered by a group of assailants who allegedly chased and attacked him with machetes and other weapons near his residence in Sulibele, Hoskote taluk.
The victim, Khaleem Ulla Khan, a resident of Janata Colony and a rowdy-sheeter at the Sulibele police station, was engaged in the fruit trade.
Attack near residence
According to police, the incident occurred around 11.30 pm on Saturday, approximately 600 metres from Khan’s residence.
After finishing dinner, Khan reportedly stepped out of his house when a group of men waiting nearby intercepted him. The attackers allegedly assaulted him with machetes and other sharp weapons.
Police said Khan attempted to flee the scene, but the assailants chased him and continued the attack.
Sustained over 20 injuries
Investigators said Khan suffered more than 20 injuries during the assault and died on the spot.
After committing the crime, the attackers fled the area before police arrived.
The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination, and a murder case has been registered at the Sulibele police station.
Old rivalry suspected
Preliminary investigations indicate that between three and five individuals may have been involved in the attack.
Police suspect the murder was the result of a long-standing rivalry. Officials said the suspected accused have been identified and special teams are working to trace and arrest them.
The incident has created tension in the locality, with police maintaining a close watch on the situation to prevent any further disturbances.
Investigation underway
