In a shocking crime, Tumakuru Women Police arrested 26-year-old truck driver Chandrashekhar for murdering his three-year-old stepson and fabricating a snakebite story to cover up the crime.
Suspicious villagers, sensing inconsistencies, gathered evidence before approaching authorities. Following a detailed probe, police apprehended Chandrashekhar on Tuesday.
Investigations revealed that Chandrashekhar, who married Kavya after her separation from her first husband, harbored resentment towards her son, Mithun Gowda. When Kavya left for work at a garment factory last Thursday, he saw an opportunity to eliminate the child.
Police reports state that Mithun, persistently asking for ice cream, triggered Chandrashekhar’s fury. In a violent outburst, he repeatedly smashed the toddler’s head against a wall, killing him instantly.
To mislead everyone, he raised an alarm, claiming a snake had bitten Mithun. He rushed the child to a nearby clinic with a neighbor’s help, where doctors declared him dead. Maintaining the ruse, he informed Kavya and the villagers, orchestrating a burial.
However, some villagers, unsettled by his behavior, scrutinized the details and confronted him. Under intense questioning, Chandrashekhar admitted to the crime. The police, acting on the villagers’ tip, arrested him and exhumed the body for forensic examination. Further investigations are underway.
