A 37-year-old software professional lost his life in a road accident after coming under the wheels of a BMTC bus in Sanjaynagar, North Bengaluru, on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Roshan, a resident of AECS Layout, was working at a private tech firm. According to police, he left home around 11 am to buy breakfast for his wife and child, who were unwell. Barely 300 metres from his residence, near Vaibhav Theatre junction, he attempted to overtake a car from the right. In the process, he lost balance and slipped, falling directly under the rear right wheels of the BMTC bus (KA-57-F-6468).
Though the bus was reportedly moving slowly, Roshan suffered severe internal injuries and succumbed on the spot. Police have booked the bus driver, Kallappa, for causing death due to negligence. He was later released on station bail.
Roshan hailed from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district and is survived by his parents, wife, and an 18-month-old child.
A senior traffic officer urged two-wheeler riders to exercise extra caution around heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks. “Many riders lose control while overtaking or while avoiding potholes, sometimes brushing against adjacent vehicles. Unfortunately, such incidents often turn fatal,” he said.
He also pointed out a similar accident last week in Roopena Agrahara, where another scooter rider, while overtaking a BMTC bus, collided with an autorickshaw and was crushed to death under the bus wheels.
