The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and parking restrictions near Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground for the city’s 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The measures, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and public safety, will be enforced from 8 am to 11 am.
Cubbon Road will be closed in both directions between BRV Junction and Kamaraj Road Junction. Vehicles from Infantry Road towards Manipal Centre must detour via Safina Plaza, Main Guard Cross Road, Alice Circle, and Kamaraj Road before rejoining Cubbon Road. Traffic from Manipal Centre to BRV Junction will be diverted near Manipal Centre towards Webb’s Junction, MG Road, Mayo Hall Junction, and Anil Kumble Circle.
A full no-parking rule applies on Central Street (Anil Kumble Circle to Shivajinagar Bus Stand), Cubbon Road (CTO Circle to KR Road), and MG Road (Anil Kumble Circle to Queen’s Circle). Police advise citizens to use public transport to avoid parking issues.
For parade attendees, designated parking has been arranged for invitees with car passes. Emergency and government vehicles, including KSRP, QRT, and BBMP, must enter via Gate 2 on Cubbon Road. Guests are requested to be seated by 8 am.
For security, items such as mobile phones, helmets, cameras, radios, and umbrellas are strictly banned inside the venue. Drinking water and toilets will be available courtesy of the BBMP. Assistance is available via helpline 112.
