A handwritten note by a five-year-old girl to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone viral, shining a spotlight on Bengaluru’s long-standing infrastructure challenges. The letter, penned ahead of the PM’s visit on August 10 to inaugurate Namma Metro’s Yellow Line, appealed for urgent help in fixing the city’s traffic and poor roads.

The child’s father, Bengaluru resident Abhiroop Chatterjee, shared the note online with the caption, “PM is visiting Bangalore. My 5-year-old girl sees it as her chance to finally fix traffic.” The concise message read: “Narendra Modi ji, there is lot of traffic. We get late to school and office. The road is very bad. Please help.”

The post quickly gained traction, drawing over 5.5 lakh views and sparking widespread agreement from social media users. Comments ranged from heartfelt wishes—“I hope he meets your daughter and her wish comes true”—to political jibes about governance.

This isn’t the first time a young citizen has written to the PM about civic concerns. In 2023, 13-year-old Asmee Sapre, who suffers from asthma and dust allergies, penned an open letter urging action against air pollution. She framed her appeal as a voice for “millions of other children” who deserve fresh air and a healthier future.

Both letters highlight how even the youngest members of society are voicing urgent calls for cleaner, safer, and more efficient urban living—reminding leaders that these demands represent not just personal grievances, but the collective hopes of a generation.
