Bengaluru: In an inspiring turn of events, two babies were born in transit—one on a railway platform and the other onboard a train—thanks to the quick response of railway personnel and fellow passengers.
On July 30, a pregnant woman went into labour at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru. With no time to reach a hospital, RPF constable Amrutha led the emergency response and helped safely deliver a healthy baby boy right on the platform. Female station staff and bystanders quickly assisted, ensuring the newborn and mother were stabilized. Both were later shifted to a nearby hospital and are reported to be doing well.
The South Western Railway and RPF India shared the moment on social media, drawing widespread praise for the bravery and compassion shown by Amrutha and others involved.
In a separate incident, a 28-year-old woman from Assam delivered a baby girl onboard the SMVT Bengaluru–New Tinsukia Express at Jolarpet station early Tuesday morning. Railway staff again rose to the occasion, providing timely support during the unexpected delivery.
These back-to-back births have sparked admiration across social media, highlighting the crucial role of railway personnel in emergency situations.
