A woman in Bengaluru narrowly avoided a fatal accident when a truck ran over her scooter at Srinivaspura Cross around 8:30 am on Saturday. Captured by CCTV footage, the incident shows the woman perilously close to the truck’s massive rear wheels, which stopped just inches from her body.
The woman had paused at the intersection, waiting to take a left turn, as traffic momentarily halted. A truck on her right was also preparing to turn. According to the video, she moved slightly ahead of the truck’s rear wheels. As a bus cleared the path ahead, the truck began to move forward, unaware of her position.
Tragically, the front wheels struck the scooter, knocking the woman to the ground. The rear wheels crushed the scooter and were about to roll over her when the driver seemingly noticed the impact and immediately reversed the truck. Nearby passersby rushed to pull her away from the vehicle and took her to safety.
Officials stated that the woman sustained minor injuries and is recovering at a nearby hospital. A police case has been registered, and the truck has been seized.
In a separate horrific accident, two young men from Andhra Pradesh lost their lives in a hit-and-run case on National Highway 648 near Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district. A speeding car hit their Bullet motorcycle from behind and dragged it for over 100 meters. CCTV footage shows the driver fleeing without stopping. Authorities are investigating both incidents.
