Bengaluru Startup Founder Highlights Salary Discrepancy Amid Cognizant’s Backlash
Bengaluru: Amit Misra, founder and CEO of Dazeinfo, has shared a provocative comparison on social media between Cognizant’s job offer for freshly-graduated engineers and a higher-paying job at a local momo stall. Cognizant’s recent hiring drive offered Rs 2.5 lakh per annum (LPA), which sparked criticism for its perceived low salary. In contrast, Misra highlighted an ad for a momo stall helper offering Rs 25,000 per month, totaling Rs 3 LPA.
Misra’s post on X noted the disparity, receiving significant attention with nearly 9,000 likes and around 250 comments. Critics of Cognizant’s salary offer argued that it is insufficient for the cost of living, especially given the high cost of rent and basic expenses in major cities.
Cognizant has yet to respond to the ongoing criticism. Meanwhile, the company’s CEO, Ravi Kumar Singisetti, is reported to be the highest-paid CEO in India, earning $22.56 million (about Rs 186 crore) in 2023.
