IndiGo, along with the Mumbai airport, received a show cause notice from the Civil Aviation ministry on Tuesday, after a clip showing fliers eating on the tarmac went viral.

Due to bad weather, a Delhi-Goa flight was diverted to Mumbai, resulting in a 12-hour delay. This caused passenger unrest, as some of them deliberately chose to sit and eat on the airport tarmac in protest. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia met with all ministry officials yesterday at midnight in response to the video that went viral on social media. ANI reported that the notices were then sent out by MoCA’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in the early hours of January 16. The response is due by the end of the day for both notices. Enforcement action, which may involve financial penalties, will be taken if no responses are received.
