Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the robust relationship between India and the United States, emphasizing that he is a product of this enduring bond. He made these comments at a Republic Day reception hosted by the Indian Consulate in Seattle, attended by prominent officials and members of the Indian-American community.
The event, held at the Bell Harbour Conference Centre in Seattle on Sunday, marked India’s 76th Republic Day. Nadella and Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson were honored guests at the gathering, which saw over 500 attendees, including Indian-American community members, government officials, and US lawmakers. This year’s celebration featured a notable first—several US Congress members joined the festivities, highlighting the strengthening relationship between the two nations.
In his address, Nadella lauded the collaborative leadership of both countries, particularly in leveraging technology to enhance sectors like education, healthcare, public services, and small business productivity. Earlier in the month, Nadella met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss Microsoft’s AI ventures and growth strategies in India. Nadella expressed his support for India’s vision of becoming an “AI-first” nation, while Modi commended Microsoft’s commitment to fostering innovation in the country.
Governor Bob Ferguson also praised the Indian community’s global influence and expressed enthusiasm for deepening ties between Washington State and the Indian Consulate in Seattle. Several iconic Seattle landmarks were lit in the colors of the Indian flag, adding to the celebration.
