A customer’s complaint about an Amul product has gone viral on social media, triggering debate around food packaging and quality checks. The Instagram video, posted by user @pushpinder.m, has crossed 8.2 million views.

Customer alleges empty wrappers

In the video, the customer opens a sealed box of Amul Chocominis, which typically contains 30 to 35 individually wrapped mini chocolates. However, she claims the wrappers inside were empty—filled with air and containing no chocolate. The clip shows several intact wrappers with no contents, prompting surprise and concern among viewers.

Amul responds to viral post

The unusual complaint quickly drew a response from Amul. Commenting publicly on the video, the brand wrote: “We’re concerned to know about your experience. Please DM us your contact number, residential address, the name of the outlet where you purchased the product, and the batch number so we can investigate this further.”

In a later update, the customer said the company had registered a complaint but had not yet provided a resolution. She added that she would share further updates once she heard back.

Context of earlier quality claims

Earlier this month, Amul addressed another viral claim related to its “Masti Dahi” product. A circulating video had alleged that a variant failed a lab test and did not meet FSSAI standards. Amul rejected the allegation, calling it misinformation, and clarified that curd naturally contains live, healthy bacteria and must be handled as per pack instructions.

Online reactions and next steps

The Chocominis video has fuelled online discussions about manufacturing lapses, supply-chain checks and consumer grievance redressal. Amul has said the matter is under review, with further details expected after batch-level investigation.
