Nirkan, Mangaluru: The Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R.), Nirkan Unit organised the Bantwal Deanery Inter-Parish Konkani Natak Spardho 2025 on Sunday, 16 November 2025 at St Thomas Church Hall, Nirkan–Vogga. Six parishes from the deanery participated, presenting performances rich in message, creativity and Konkani cultural expression.

Event inaugurated by deanery and parish leadership

The competition was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr Victor D’Souza, Vicar Forane of Bantwal Deanery.
Rev. Fr Anil Roshan Lobo, Parish Priest of St Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan, and Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Nirkan, joined the ceremony.
Melwyn D’Souza, President of Catholic Sabha Nirkan, presided over the programme.

Other dignitaries present included Santhosh D’Souza Bajpe, President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R.); Stany Lobo, Past President; John Lasrado, President of Catholic Sabha Bantwal Deanery; Austin Lobo, Deanery Secretary; Vincent Bennis, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Sr Severine Fernandes, Superior of Holy Family Bethany Convent and Headmistress of St Thomas School; and Issac Dsouza, Secretary of Catholic Sabha Nirkan.
Alphonse Fernandes, Convenor of Natak Spardho, coordinated the event.

Winners of the Konkani drama competition

The competition featured impressive theatrical presentations from all participating parishes.
Nirkan Church emerged as the winners, followed by Bellore Church as runners-up and Loretto Church securing the second runners-up position.
Awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Comedian were also presented, adding to the celebratory spirit of the event.

Community engagement and concluding programme

A food stall set up by the Catholic Sabha added to the festive atmosphere, offering refreshments for participants and the audience.
Alphonse Fernandes welcomed the gathering, while Jossy Pinto, Joint Secretary of Catholic Sabha Nirkan, delivered the vote of thanks.
