Mangaluru: The four-day Mega Bible Convention 2026 concluded at the Holy Cross Church grounds, Cordel, Kulshekar, with fervent prayers for global peace and spiritual renewal. Organised by the Mangalore Diocesan Charismatic Service Communion in association with the Diocesan Biblical Commission, the grand finale centred on the theme “Prophecy and Community: The God Who Challenges and Indwells.”

Thousands of faithful gathered for the concluding day, which combined solemn liturgy, scriptural reflection and a powerful prayer of deliverance led by Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore Bishop Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

Eucharistic celebration and message of transformation

The day’s spiritual programme began with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, followed by praise and worship led by Br Dolphy Lobo, Coordinator of the convention. The concluding Holy Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha.

Drawing inspiration from the liturgy of Transfiguration Sunday, the Bishop delivered a compelling homily emphasising personal transformation through an authentic encounter with God.

“Every human desires a profound experience of God in their life. When we genuinely encounter God, listen to His voice and place our absolute trust in Him, we are completely transformed,” he said. He highlighted prayer, contemplation, forgiveness and humility as pathways to experiencing divine grace.

The sacredness of the Mass was enhanced by the melodious singing of the Cordel Church Choir.

Special intercessions for world peace

Amid the spiritual joy of the convention, special intercessory prayers were offered for global peace. The Bishop and faithful prayed particularly for harmony in war-affected Gulf regions and for all those suffering the consequences of violence and conflict.

The collective prayer underscored the Church’s solidarity with the suffering and its call for reconciliation and peace across nations.

Biblical reflections on prophecy and community

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the congregation participated in the final two biblical sessions of the convention.

Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest of Cordel, presented the Old Testament reflection titled “The Prophetic Fire: The Performative Power of God.” He explained that the prophetic word challenges complacency and purifies the faithful, likening it to fire that reveals the true gold of the Covenant.

Rev. Dr Vincent Sequeira, Secretary of the Diocesan Biblical Commission, delivered the New Testament session titled “The Indwelling Logos: The Richness of Community Life.” He stressed that the ultimate goal of Revelation is fellowship and urged the faithful to allow the Word of Christ to dwell richly within their community, transforming them into active “doers of the word.”

Prayer of deliverance and spiritual renewal

The convention reached its spiritual zenith during the final Eucharistic Adoration. Guided by Rev. Fr Anil D’Souza, Parish Priest of Pakshikere, the adoration culminated in a solemn prayer of deliverance and exorcism led by Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha.

Invoking the victorious name of Jesus, the Bishop prayed over the massive gathering, seeking liberation from spiritual bondage, healing from afflictions and inner peace. Centred on the theme of total reliance — “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” — the intense prayer moment offered the faithful an opportunity for surrender and renewal.

Throughout the evening, Br Rony D’Souza and his team sustained the spiritual fervour through vibrant praise and worship.

Clergy participation and conclusion

A large number of clergy concelebrated the concluding Mass alongside the Bishop, including Rev. Fr Santhosh Rodrigues, Rev. Dr J.B. Saldanha, Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes, Rev. Dr Vincent Sequeira, Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Rev. Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, Rev. Fr Vincent D’Souza, Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza, Rev. Fr Apolinaris Crasta, Rev. Fr Harry D’Souza, Rev.
