In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have apprehended Madhur alias Mota Arman, the alleged shooter in the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah in Greater Kailash last month. Arman, believed to be affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba gangs, was arrested following a shootout on Saturday night in the Narela Industries area.

Acting on a tip-off, police set a trap for Arman, who arrived on a motorcycle. When officers signaled him to stop, he opened fire, resulting in a gunfight where he sustained injuries to his right knee and left ankle. A bullet from his weapon also struck Sub-Inspector Adesh Kumar, who was wearing a bulletproof vest. Police recovered a pistol and 12 cartridges from the scene.

CCTV footage from the September 12 incident revealed Arman, dressed in a checked shirt, firing six to eight shots at Shah, who later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The motive behind the murder stemmed from Shah’s refusal to pay ₹5 crore that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had attempted to extort from him.

Shah, of Afghan descent, had ties with rival gangsters Ravi Gangwal and Rohit Chaudhary, which contributed to the conflict with Hashim Baba, a gangster from northeast Delhi. Sources indicate that Rohit Godara, a key member of the Bishnoi gang, exploited this rivalry to orchestrate Shah’s murder, involving Hashim Baba and his associates, including Randeep from Azamgarh and Sameer Baba, who is currently incarcerated.

Earlier, the police had made at least four arrests in connection with this case.
