Inter-District Thief and Garuda Gang Member Arrested by Uppinangady Police

Uppinangady police have arrested Abdul Hameed, alias Hameed (27), an inter-district thief and member of the notorious Garuda gang, on charges of stealing iron sheets meant for the National Highway-75 four-lane project. Hameed, from Kayarthadka in Sunkadakatte, Kadaba taluk, had been on the run following the theft.

The accused is also linked to other thefts in Kaukradi and Bedrodi. Several cases of dacoity, theft, and abetment to suicide have been lodged against him in multiple police stations, including Chikkamagaluru, Gonibeedu, Davangere, Gangolli, Sakleshpur, Mangaluru North, Kadaba, and Belthangady.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in tackling inter-district thefts and organized crime in the region.
