A video showing a physical education teacher, Annamalai, from a private school in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, physically assaulting students has gone viral. In the footage, Annamalai is seen slapping, kicking, and pulling the hair of several football players, apparently dissatisfied with their performance. Following the video’s circulation, the Sangagiri District Education Officer initiated an investigation, resulting in Annamalai’s suspension. Further inquiries are ongoing.
In a related incident in March, seven students from a government college in Telangana were detained for allegedly killing a 21-year-old student named Venkat at a college hostel in Nizamabad. Venkat was reportedly beaten and strangled to death by the accused, who included a minor.
