Hyderabad: Thanveer Ahmed, a 54-year-old YouTuber operating a popular news channel on YouTube and Facebook, was arrested by the Rein Bazaar police for allegedly extorting money from a family. He is accused of posting videos involving the family on social media and later demanding Rs 1 lakh in exchange for removing the footage.

The incident came to light when a family member, identified as Lateef, filed a complaint with the police. According to the police, Thanveer contacted the family after posting the video and demanded the large sum of money. Following the complaint, a sting operation was conducted, during which Thanveer was caught red-handed accepting Rs 70,000 from Lateef at a local lodge.

The police investigation revealed that Thanveer has been implicated in at least four other similar extortion cases. Authorities are continuing to probe his activities, and Thanveer is expected to face additional charges.

This case raises concerns about online extortion and the misuse of social media platforms for exploitation. The police are urging individuals to report such incidents to help prevent further cases of exploitation.
